GOPIO International Convention 2025 is poised to make a meaningful impact as organisers finalise a programme that champions future technologies and social empowerment. Taking place from 28-30 March at the Brisbane Marriott, the event will draw attendees from around the world to exchange ideas, foster partnerships, and explore solutions to contemporary global challenges.
Under the guidance of International Chairperson Thomas Abraham, the planning committee has focused on creating an environment where forward-thinking dialogue thrives. With a special segment dedicated to future technologies, co-led by Abraham and Professor Prasad Yarlagadda, attendees will learn how cutting-edge advancements can serve the greater good. This forward-focused approach has been central to the event’s overall direction.
Another key element of the programme is the Track Two session, facilitated by Aprana Hebbani, Vasu Pawar, and Jayshiri. This session aims to foster discussions that bridge sectors, identify critical needs, and inspire collective action.
A standout feature of this year’s convention is the presence of Sashi Kiran, Minister of Women, Children, and Social Protection from Fiji. With over two decades of hands-on experience, Kiran has pioneered initiatives addressing social, economic, environmental, and health needs in communities. During the pandemic, her team provided support to more than 22,000 families, eight orphanages, and approximately 100 schools, distributing essential supplies and small grants to help families build sustainable livelihoods. Her proven track record of service and partnership makes her involvement in the convention a highlight for many attendees.
The convention will kick off with a welcome reception dinner on the evening of 28 March. A full day of talks and discussions follows on March 29, where speakers and panelists will cover topics ranging from technological innovation to social programmes that empower individuals and families. On the final day, a general body meeting will chart the future course for GOPIO’s initiatives.
Delegates can also look forward to a cultural tour of Fiji and New Zealand post-convention, further enhancing the event’s focus on collaboration and cultural exchange.
The event is backed by generous sponsors, including the Brisbane Economic Development Board and Queensland Senator Paul Scarr, alongside strong advocacy from GOPIO International Gold Life Member Pars Ram Punj and sponsorship efforts led by Mrs Usha Chandra, acting president of GOPIO Queensland.
GOPIO International Convention 2025 not only celebrates the Indian diaspora’s achievements but also underscores the organisation’s commitment to solving critical global issues. With an emphasis on innovation and empowerment, this convention promises to be a hub of inspiration and meaningful action.
