The Australian Men’s Deaf Cricket Team has embarked on a tour of India, participating in a T20 International Tri-Series alongside India and South Africa, followed by a One Day International series against India. Matches are scheduled at Delhi’s Karnail Singh Stadium from March 2nd to March 12th, 2025.
Upon arrival, the Australian team visited the Australian High Commission in New Delhi. The High Commission shared this moment on social media, encouraging fans to attend the games and support the team.
Cricket Australia has announced a 16-member squad for the tour, led by captain Andrew Park from New South Wales. The team includes four debutants: Abhi Jain, Jacob Floyd, Keziah Van Rijn, and Angus Pike, who earned their spots after impressive performances at the National Cricket Inclusion Championships in January.
Joel Morrison, Cricket Australia’s Executive General Manager of Events and Operations, expressed pride in the squad, highlighting the tour as a testament to Australian Cricket’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
The Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) has also announced a 15-member squad for the series, captained by Virender Singh from Himachal Pradesh. The team has undergone extensive training under Coach Dev Dutt and Assistant Coach Susheel Gupta. IDCA President Sumit Jain expressed optimism about the team’s prospects, emphasizing the opportunity for players to showcase their talents on an international stage.
Fans are encouraged to support the teams by attending matches at Karnail Singh Stadium in Delhi from March 2nd to March 12th, 2025. For those unable to attend in person, all matches will be livestreamed on the Indian Deaf Cricket Association’s YouTube channel, allowing supporters worldwide to tune in and cheer for their teams.
This tour represents a milestone in promoting inclusivity and diversity in cricket. As these athletes compete at the highest level, they inspire others and demonstrate that cricket truly is a sport for all.
