The first images of The Grove shopping centre in Tarneit have been released, giving residents a glimpse of what’s to come when the complex opens in early 2027. Developed by Empire Properties within Frasers Property’s community in Melbourne’s west, the centre will feature a 4,000 sqm Woolworths supermarket alongside 20 retail and speciality stores.
The shopping hub on Bethany Rd is set to house a Chemist Warehouse, Anytime Fitness, a nail bar, greengrocer, bakery, and a pizza restaurant. Across the road, additional amenities will include Saltwater all-ages swim school, Hungry Jack’s, Red Rooster, a service station, and a car wash. A pedestrian crossing and reserve will link both precincts, with bus stops providing easy access to Werribee and Tarneit railway stations.
Designed by Clarke Hopkins Clarke, the centre draws inspiration from its surroundings near Davis Creek and the Werribee River. Textures and materials echo the natural flow of waterways, and the design integrates the neighbouring park to create a welcoming connection between the community and the retail precinct.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2025, adding to the already thriving Grove community. Home to more than 1,800 residents, the 167-ha development will eventually house 2,600 families. With over 80% of land and house-and-land packages sold, The Grove has become a sought-after address in Melbourne’s west.
Many parks, bike paths, playgrounds, and wetlands are already in place, including seven hectares of waterways. Riverside Park, featuring an adventure playground with a climbing tower and mini-basketball court, will open alongside the shopping centre. Community facilities such as the Dianella Community Centre, which offers maternal and child health services, a kindergarten, and meeting spaces, are already well established.
Education has been a key focus in the area, with Karwan Primary School opening in 2023 and Brinbeal Secondary College welcoming students for Term 1 last year. Residents say the rapid development of amenities has been a major attraction.
“The Grove has fantastic parks. Both my kids love it. You can let them play without any worries,” says local resident Faran Qaiser.
For Abhishek Bhatia and Divya Mehta, community spaces have been central to their experience. Their son Aaryav spends every afternoon at the local park, forging friendships long before stepping into a classroom.
“The parks are small but well-planned, and they’ve helped build a strong community,” Abhishek says.
While a bus route currently connects The Grove to Werribee railway station, the upcoming Tarneit railway station—set to open in 2026—will further improve connectivity. Located near Leakes and Davis roads, the V/Line station will include a 400-space commuter car park, a four-bay bus interchange, and a pedestrian underpass.
As The Grove shopping centre edges closer to construction, residents can look forward to a retail and lifestyle hub that enhances their growing neighbourhood.
