In an exciting development for Australian Kabaddi fans, three of the biggest stars from the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) will make their highly anticipated Australian debut.

Ajay Thakur, Deepak Hooda, and Rakesh Kumar have been announced as the headliners for the Pro Kabaddi Melbourne Raid, which will take place at John Cain Arena on December 28.

These players have played pivotal roles in the rise of Kabaddi on the global stage, and their first appearance in Australia marks a significant milestone for the sport.

Ajay Thakur, known as the ‘Ice Man,’ is one of the PKL’s most iconic raiders. With 794 raid points in 121 matches, Thakur has built a reputation for his signature dubki move and his ability to turn the game in his team’s favour. Having represented top teams such as Bengaluru Bulls, Puneri Paltan, Tamil Thalaivas, and Dabang Delhi K.C., Thakur’s impact extends beyond the domestic league. On the international stage, he has earned five gold medals and a bronze at major tournaments, including leading India to victory in the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup.

Deepak Hooda – Versatile All-rounder

Deepak Hooda is renowned for his versatility and consistency on the field. As one of PKL’s most dynamic players, Hooda has accumulated over 1,000 raid points and 99 tackle points throughout his career. A key contributor for teams like the Telugu Titans, Puneri Paltan, and Jaipur Pink Panthers, Hooda was instrumental in India’s victory at the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup. In addition to his World Cup triumph, Hooda has earned gold medals at both the Asian Games and the Asian Kabaddi Championship, cementing his status as one of the sport’s most accomplished all-rounders.

Rakesh Kumar – Tactical Leader

Rakesh Kumar, a seasoned veteran of the PKL, is known for his exceptional defensive skills and leadership qualities. Over the course of 59 matches, Kumar has earned 186 raid points and 74 tackle points. His experience and tactical approach to the game have made him one of the best all-rounders in Kabaddi history. Kumar’s international success is also remarkable, having secured three gold medals at the Asian Games and two World Cup titles with the Indian national team.
