SATPI will fund innovative projects that address our shared strategic and technology challenges and advance our interests, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region

Australia and India are strengthening their strategic partnership with the launch of the Australia-India Strategic and Technology Policy Initiative (SATPI). This new grants program, now open for applications, marks a significant step in deepening ties between the two nations, focusing on shared challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.

The SATPI initiative is designed to fund innovative projects that tackle joint strategic and technological issues. As part of this effort, a flagship annual 1.5 track strategic dialogue between Australia and India will be established, a move that was first announced at the 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in New Delhi last November.

Beyond the strategic dialogue, the SATPI grants will also support a range of other activities, including conferences, workshops, research, policy papers, and institutional exchanges. These efforts aim to advance the interests of both nations, particularly in the areas of strategy and technology.

The Australian Government has committed approximately $1.25 million per year to fund SATPI grants, with funding available from the financial years 2024-25 through 2026-27. Australian entities, including those partnering with Indian organisations, are encouraged to apply for these grants by 29 September 2024.

This initiative underscores the close relationship between Australia and India, both of which are committed to promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. The SATPI grants represent a tangible step towards achieving these shared goals, with a focus on innovation and collaboration.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.
