Former Australian cricket captain, Michael Clarke, was joined by cricket fans, locals and wine lovers at Jacob’s Creek on 5 September as the ICC Men’s T20 Trophy Tour, driven by Nissan, stopped in the iconic Barossa Valley in South Australia.
A partner of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup that kicks off next month on 16 October, Jacob’s Creek welcomed the T20 World Cup trophy to its cellar door, where it also unveiled a pop-up cricket installation, which will take over the ground until the T20 finals in November.
Inspired by the vines, the cricket installation is a fun, family friendly pitch that incorporates Jacob’s Creek barrels and old vines. The installation will be open for all visitors to enjoy a hit on until the end of November.
Earlier, Australian batter, Travis Head, raised the prized silverware in the old heritage scoreboard and on the Adelaide Oval Roof Climb, while former ICC Cricket World Cup winner, Jason Gillespie, also joined fans on the hallowed turf.
The Trophy arrived in South Australia as part of a global tour that takes in locations across all eight Australian State Territories in addition to 12 other countries, also stopping at the Adelaide Oval, Rundle Mall and the Royal Adelaide Show. The Trophy has already visited iconic Australian destinations such as the Great Barrier Reef, Uluru and Rottnest Island.
T20 World Cup action in Adelaide begins on 2 November, when world number one India takes on Bangladesh. Hosts Australia will face Adelaide Strikers hero Rashid Khan in their clash against Afghanistan on 4 November.
Adelaide Oval will also host a semi-final under lights on 10 November.
