The government has backed horticulture’s greatest show. Hort Connections has been awarded $2 million to help assure the event’s future and growth. The event, which is co-hosted by Ausveg and the International Fresh Produce Association of Australia and New Zealand (IFPA ANZ), attracts over 3,000 industry representatives, including 1000 vegetable, fruit, and nut growers. The cash comes from the federal government’s $12 million in the 2022-23 Budget for big agricultural events, which aims to encourage growth in the cattle, horticulture, sheep and lamb, and digital agritech industries by providing direct support to their significant conferences and events. Partnerships developed through large agricultural events, according to federal agriculture minister David Littleproud, are a cornerstone of agricultural success.
