Cuda Farm, a premium Atherton Tablelands property with unharvested crops, considerable plant and machinery, and 300 megalitres of irrigation water, is being sold on a walk-in, walk-out basis. The 75-hectare (185 acre) property is located near to the settlement of Atherton on the Atherton Tablelands’ so-called “golden triangle,” and is being offered by Bruno Cuda through Nutrien Harcourts. Two neighbouring freehold titles front the sealed Tinaroo Falls Dam Road and are reported to have future subdivision potential. Cairns, roughly 100 kilometres to the east, boasts a variety of amenities, including an international airport. The farm has red volcanic Tolga soils, which are extremely productive. It’s all useful land that’s flat or gradually sloping and ideal for cultivating a variety of horticulture crops.

Rhodes grass seed/pasture, corn silage, and sweet potatoes have all been produced on the farm in the past. Avocado trees have been planted in recent years. Two main residences, two farm houses, a new packing shed, office, a big machinery shed with self-contained living area, pump shed, and various other storage and service structures make up the farm’s-built infrastructure. The two main bores of the enhanced irrigation system, as well as the home bore, are all connected. An outstanding 99kVA solar system backs up the mains power supply. The property is being marketed through a Nutrien Harcourts-managed expressions of interest process that will close on May 31.

Atherton Tablelands: A Background Study

Located just south of Cairns, the cooler-climate of the Atherton Tablelands features a huge variety of landscapes and attractions – from ranges and waterfalls to spectacular national parks and coffee plantations. Dairy farmers were among the first settlers in the Atherton Tablelands, arriving more than 100 years ago. The industry is still thriving and you can happily spend a few hours dairy-hopping, stopping off to taste ice-cream, gelato, cream, milk, yoghurt and cheese. Mungalli Creek Dairy is a stand-out, offering the largest range of biodynamic organic products in Tropical North Queensland. Visit in summer and autumn for the award-winning ricotta and feta. You can find all the region’s best producers in the one spot at a classic country market. Yungaburra Farmers’ Market is the largest and oldest, and is held on the fourth Saturday of each month. The market has embraced the food truck trend, so you can snack on crispy potato skewers, fresh ham and cheese croissants or flaky cannoli as you wander between the stalls. If you miss Yungaburra, there are other markets spread over each weekend of the month.

We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution.
