Australia’s first OZ TOP DOG competition winners have just been announced at the world’s largest canine Zoom ceremony with Sydney-based pooch Coco taking out the People’s Choice OZ Top Dog out of over 500 entries across the country.

Top Office Dog went to South Australian Miniature Schnoodle Wheenie, while Top Dog with a Job was awarded to St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne’s employee Macca and The Top Dog-Friendly Workplace went to Stratacare Australia, located in Brisbane.

Founded by leading recruitment agency people2people and sponsored by PETstock Australia, over 500 pooches joined the world’s biggest canine zoom meeting to celebrate the winners.

Mark Smith, people2people Group Managing Director says, “This is the first year we’ve run the OZ TOP DOG competition in Australia and with over 500 entries it has been a runaway success. The entries really show just how much our much beloved dogs truly give back and make a difference in the workplace. At a time when we all need a lift, I encourage more employers to consider being dog friendly workplaces or flexibility coming out of the pandemic. Can’t wait till next year!”

The OZ TOP DOG Award Winners 2021:

• Top Office Dog:  Wheenie. This South Australian Miniature Schnoodle accompanies her owner Danni to the local school where she works. She is also training to be a therapy dog at the school, she loves kids and Danni used to work in this field as her mother is a special needs coordinator.

• Top Dog with a Job: Macca. According to the team at St Vincent’s, Macca has been instrumental throughout the pandemic. In fact, he’s their superhero. The true magic of Macca’s contribution to the Neurosurgery team is visible at the bedside.

• Top Dog Friendly Workplace: Stratacare Australia. At Stratacare, they believe having dogs in the office is the best for office moral, and they just make everyone smile. Stratacare’s dog policy became so popular they had to devise a calendar to book your dog in so things didn’t become too chaotic.

• People’s Choice: Coco. Coco’s owner Alina says having Coco at home with her gives her family something to look forward to while we are in lockdown. She has them wrapped around her paws. Plus her sassiness, cheekiness and style set her apart. Coco has a bigger wardrobe than most humans!

The judging panel for the awards comprised of people2people, headline sponsor PETstock, Australian celebrity and self-confessed dog lover, Deborah Hutton, and OZTOPDOG charity Assistance Dogs Australia. Each winner receives an OZ TOP DOG, a $1,000 PETstock voucher and much more!
