The Government of India has launched the “Global Pravasi Rishta Portal” as a dynamic portal to establish an effective communication channel to connect with the Indian diaspora worldwide. It will work as a three-way communication between the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Missions, and the Indian diaspora.
In an email to the media, the Consulate General of India in Melbourne, said members of the Indian diaspora residing in Victoria and Tasmania are invited to register themselves on the portal’s address https://pravasirishta.gov.in.
The portal would enable the diaspora to reach consular office/services in a timely manner. Through the portal, registered members of the Indian diaspora would receive emergency alerts, advisories, updates on activities of the Consulate and information on the existing and new government schemes on a real time basis.
The portal states that “The diversity and colours of India are its strength, which astonish to attract the world and connect the Indian diaspora here to avail the new opportunities being generated in India. The 4 C’s—Care for their safety and security Connect with India, Celebrate their cultural heritage and Contribute to the development of the homeland. Over 30 million pravasis now scattered across the globe would be connected through this Portal.”

Support Independent Community Journalism
Dear Reader,The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.
We operate independently.
Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.
When you support The Indian Sun, you support:
• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers
We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.
If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.
Please consider making a contribution today.
Thank you for your support.
