Lion dancers, fireworks and a 10 metre long LED dragon will usher in the Year of the Pig on Saturday, 2 February in Canley Heights town centre.
The bright and colourful annual celebration is a must for locals and visitors, with Canley Heights coming alive for an evening street party, delicious food, live music, carnival rides and fireworks at 9pm.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Lunar New Year celebrations will highlight everything Canley Heights has to offer.
“Canley Heights has emerged as a fantastic food destination and a very welcoming part of our City,” Mayor Carbone said. “I invite everyone to come and join the celebrations at Canley Heights and wish each other a year full of good fortune and prosperity.”

The event is supported by Fairfield City Council, the Canley Heights Business Community and Canley Heights Restaurant Committee.
Canley Heights Lunar New Year celebrations run Saturday 2 February from 4pm to 10pm.
Canley Vale Road, Canley Heights will be closed from Peel Street to Salisbury Street from 7.45pm to approximately 9.45pm. The road closure is a necessary step to keep residents safe so they can enjoy the event atmosphere.
The Canley Heights Lunar New Year celebrations are in addition to the Cabramatta celebrations to be held across Saturday and Sunday 16 and 17 February, hosted by Fairfield City Council in Cabramatta’s Freedom Plaza.

Support Independent Community Journalism
Dear Reader,The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.
We operate independently.
Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.
When you support The Indian Sun, you support:
• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers
We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.
If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.
Please consider making a contribution today.
Thank you for your support.
