Gala ball Carnevale Meets Bollywood to he held this November

On 4 November Eventcepts will present a spectacular night of feasting and fun as they present the gala ball Carnevale Meets Bollywood at Peninsula Docklands.

Director of Eventcepts Connie Paglianiti has gone all out to bring together what promises to be an incredible spectacle on Melbourne’s social calendar. “After the success of previous years (gala balls) I truly wanted to create a spectacle like no other. My love of the color and flavour of the Indian culture coupled with my Italian heritage seemed like the perfect combination,” says Connie.

Carnevale Meets Bollywood will bring together the opulence of a grand Venetian Ball with an explosion of Bollywood flavour and color promising to deliver an unparalleled experience. The evening is bound to be a cultural extravaganza and includes performances by the Chantoozies who will don saris for the occasion. The event will also support the charity Project Karma which does incredible work in rescuing, rehabilitating and protecting children in South East Asia. Most recently they played a pivotal role in Indonesia with the children affected by the earthquakes (http://www.projectkarma.org.au).

To introduce the event a special media launch will be held on Wednesday, 12 September at Gradi Crown. A select number of media and influencers will be invited to join hosts Tottie Goldsmith and James Liotta along with entertainment including Bollywood dancers, commedia dell’arte characters on display as well as masquerade roving talent on stilts to launch the event!

The stars of the moment will be celebrity chefs Jessi Singh of Babu Ji NYC and Johnny Di Francesco of Gradi Group as they create a beautiful menu fusing Indian and Italian cuisine. Jessi and Johnny are both award winning chefs with international status and are already planning a delicious fusion of the cultures. Director of Eventcepts Connie Paglianiti has yet again gone all out to bring together what promises to be an incredible spectacle on Melbourne’s social calendar.

“After the success of previous years (gala balls) I truly wanted to create a spectacle like no other. My love of the color and flavour of the Indian culture coupled with my Italian heritage seemed like the perfect combination,” said Connie. “Securing Jessi and Johnny for the event will truly bring something special and unique to Melbourne and I am so excited to bring these two rich and artistic cultures together,” she added.

After taking New York by storm with Babu Ji NYC, Jesse Singh has returned to Australia to continue running Dhaba at the Mill and Horn Please. He is now turning his attention to Sydney and will open his new Australian-Indian restaurant at 4Fourteen in Surry Hills. Johnny Di Francesco is still riding high after being officially crowned the best pizzeria in the Oceania region this past July. Di Francesco also has a collaboration with the P&O cruise liner Pacific Explorer planned and has taken the Gradi brand to the Middle East with openings in Kuwait and Bahrain.

Johnny’s success continues to grow with plans to open in Adelaide, New Zealand and the USA in the next 12 months. “We have already been putting our heads together to see what we can come up with,” said Johnny Di Francesco, Chef and Owner, Gradi Group. “I consider it a great opportunity to work with Jessi. I’m already feeling inspired by his techniques and can’t wait to add my own Italian flavour to the menu.”

Jessi Singh, Chef / Owner, Babu Ji NYC, said Johnny was the perfect chef to work with. “My wife is Italian and my children are half Italian, so this is bringing my home life into the kitchen, something I am truly excited to be doing. We are going to create a spectacular feast by fusing our cultures through food,” said Jessi.
