Brand New Day program at Hotham offers five-hour lesson on conquering the mountains

The snowfall was perfectly timed for 100 first-timers who learnt the basics of skiing or snowboarding recently. They got their chance to learn as part of the Brand New Day program at Hotham.

Guests got the benefit of being led through the often daunting snow experience by an instructor which included a coffee to kickstart the day followed by a 5-hour lesson inclusive of lift pass and equipment hire. A nourishing lunch break at The Bird was the perfect half way break before everyone shared how they conquered the mountain over an après drink.

At the incredible value of $59, the trailblazer Brand New Day program has become an ideal entry point to the snow and has started to create long term returners.

“Every skier and snowboarder was a first-timer at some point in their lives, and an enjoyable first day, with professional instruction and expert help at every step of the way, can make all the difference” — Belinda Trembath

Ross McLeod, Brand New Day Ski Instructor, saw first-hand the value that the program offers to first timers. “All the things they (first timers) struggle with are provided, so that they get a good chance to relax, rather than being daunted if they were doing it on their own. Sharing the same experience with 100 others in the same scenario eases the stress and makes it a much more enjoyable experience,” he said.

“We want to share our love of snowsports and remove some of the barriers people face when trying what is a new and unfamiliar activity,” said Belinda Trembath, General Manager of Mt Hotham Skiing Company.

“Every skier and snowboarder was a first-timer at some point in their lives, and an enjoyable first day, with professional instruction and expert help at every step of the way, can make all the difference. With this kind of start, I’m sure our Brand New Day participants will agree with me that skiing and snowboarding are among the most fulfilling and gratifying activities they will ever learn. Snowsports are a joy and a challenge for life, a pastime and a passion these brand new skiers and snowboarders will be able to share with their friends and family for years to come, in some of Australia’s and the world’s most beautiful places, like Hotham,” she added.

Offered just two separate days in the season and with only 100 spaces available, the program has now built such a reputation that it is fast to sell out. The weekend spots were snapped up in record time of just days!

Mt Hotham is set to launch another Brand New Day program on Saturday, 2 September, so pencil it into your calendars now.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution.
