Wine Down Fridays: Visit Montara Wines near Ararat during their Wine Down Fridays and enjoy food, music and great wine (plus beer) in a beautiful picture perfect location. The next one is on 27 January, 24 February, and so on. Visit: www.montara.com.au

Air time: Joy Flights has on offer five-minute flights are available between from 11am and 4:30pm at $60pp from Best’s Wines in Great Western on 22 January. No bookings required, just turn up and enjoy sun, wine, and helicopter flights. For those who want to fly higher and longer, 10 and 15 minute rides are also available.

For those with free time on their hands, here are a few free ways to enjoy yourself in the area.

~ Visit Grampians National Park, many look out points are walks with varying levels of fitness and timeframe with something to suit everyone.

~ Explore Brambuk Aboriginal Centre which has a great bush cafe

~ Take a picnic and use the BBQ facilities in the park area right in the heart of Halls Gap, which has an amazing children’s play ground with kangaroos just wandering around you while eat and play

~ Visit one of the two olive plantations and taste the locally grown products

~ Visit any of the cellar door wineries for free tastings

~ Visit Bunjil Shelter in the Black Range Reserve. It’s just a short drive off the Western Hwy as you reach Stawell and very quick and easy to see the art sight with just a 200m return walking track.
