A Vedanta 10-minute play festival was held on 6, 7 and 8 June 2014 at Kings Street Theatre, Newtown, which provided an opportunity to know more about the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda and his impact on modern society. Reena Koak of Miss India Australia Corporation directed a play called Awesome Foursome, a Bollywood drama on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

Awesome Foursomeis a tale about a young Indian boy who convinces his parents to marry an Australian Girl and takes her to India where she is fascinated by an Australian follower of Swami Vivekananda and plans to help the less educated living in India. The play was written by a devotee and the lead roles were played by Ashish Kumar, EleniPanayi, Dr.Debu Mukherjee, Lali Mukherjee, Nicholas De Boer, Reena Koak and Alisha Singh.

Alex Broun (Festival Director) said that Vivekananda’s influence is huge to the world’s 2.4 billion of Hindus (the fastest growing faith in Australia, according to the latest census) and a subtle influence behind the burgeoning worldwide interest in Yoga, meditation and the interfaith movement. The participants in the festival are a mix of Hindu, Muslim, Jewish and Christian writers, directors and actors.
