Are you a bit handy with the camera function on your smart-phone?

The team at the Werribee Visitor Information Centre are running a short film competition, with more than $2,500 in prizes up for grabs for the best videos showcasing the region.

Wyndham City’s Tourism and Major Events Portfolio Holder Cr John Gibbons said the winning video may also be used to inspire visitors to the Werribee Visitor Information Centre, and shared on Wyndham City’s social media platforms.

“We have so many amazing and diverse attractions here in Wyndham, whether it’s Werribee Park Mansion, the Werribee Open Range Zoo, the RAAF Museum, or the Werribee South Beach—or maybe even the Werribee River or the Cheetham Wetlands—there’s something for everybody,” Cr Gibbons said.

With studies having found that Wyndham’s tourism precinct attracts over 1.1 million a year, contributing more than $224 million to the state’s economy each year, Cr Gibbons said the Council wanted to celebrate that, by encouraging filmmakers of all abilities to snap their favourite spots across the City, and submit a 90 second video to go into the draw for one of our prizes.

Cr Gibbons said the Werribee Visitor Information Centre, located at the Werribee Open Range Zoo, was a great resource for visitors to the region to find places to visit and things to do.

“The dedicated team that run the centre are often the go-to for tourists, sharing the great attractions we have to offer with our visitors,” said Cr Gibbons.

The winner of the competition will receive a JB HI-FI voucher to the value of $1,800 and the runner-up will receive a voucher worth $800.

Submissions open 16 October and close 30 November. More information: www.shortfilmcomp.wyndham.vic.gov.au

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
