For those who want their Indian food as close to home as possible

Sydney, Australia’s largest city and the country’s economic capital, is fast growing with more and more people choosing to settle in this global city. With Sydney’s West undergoing a transformation, newer suburbs are coming up and newer businesses being established to meet the needs of the people in the community.

The Ponds is one such new suburb and Khana Khazana is a new Indian restaurant that opened in here last year to cater to the culinary needs of those who love Indian cuisine.

Travelling long distances on a week day after a tiring day at work to eat out or for takeaway is not a pleasant experience. So it is a matter of great convenience when you have a nice joint right round the corner that you can go to when you don’t feel like cooking or have guests at home. Raj, the owner of Khana Khazana, says that though there may be countless Indian restaurants in Sydney, the residents of The Ponds wanted one in their own community, which was why he opened his restaurant.

Khana Khazana has an ambience that is relaxed, friendly and perfect for families looking to dine out. It is a casual eating place that serves good quality food and delivers a pleasant dining experience. It incorporates both a café and a restaurant to cater to the needs of all.

“As we have just begun our journey, the restaurant currently opens for lunch and dinner, but we are hoping to start serving breakfast during the weekends,” says Raj.

Though the menu is predominantly North Indian, the restaurant does serve some south Indian dishes. Kushiram, the chef of Khana Khazana, urges guests to sample his signature mutton dish, where he uses both goat mince and goat meat in the preparation. “I add red wine to give it its unique taste and flavour,” says Kushiram, who adds that it is a favourite among diners, although the restaurant’s butter chicken offers stiff competition.

The name Khana Khazana is associated with good food and fine dining and that is what the team of this restaurant aims to serve to people visiting the restaurant.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.
