With November coming to a close, Movember supporters across Australia are making their final push, and Nick Attam’s efforts have again drawn recognition, this time from Queensland’s State Member for Jordan, Charis Mullen. During a visit to Townsville, the Shadow Minister for Public Works and Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs shared her reaction after meeting him, writing, “Really great to catch up with the terrific Nick Attam from The Indian Sun whilst in Townsville. But I almost didn’t recognise him with that moustache! Nick has been a longtime supporter of Movember having raised over $25,000 for men’s mental health.”

Her acknowledgement arrives at a moment when the campaign’s message is most active. With only a few days left in the month, Movember’s call for open conversations, early checks and practical support has taken on a renewed urgency. Nick’s advocacy has been shaped by personal stories, including friends who faced illness or mental health struggles in silence. His Movember updates over the years have encouraged men to talk early, seek help when pressure builds, and look out for those who might not voice what they are carrying.

Movember continues to highlight the rising pressures on men in Australia, from mental health concerns to prostate and testicular cancer. Its resources, including Movember Conversations, help people approach difficult moments with friends and family. Local support services provide confidential guidance for those dealing with stress or health concerns that may have gone unspoken.

Nick’s moustache has become part of the campaign’s familiarity, giving people an easy way to begin the conversations that Movember seeks to spark. Charis Mullen’s message adds weight to his longstanding role, particularly among multicultural communities where silence around health concerns can be more pronounced.

With November almost at its end, supporters are encouraged to make their final donations or reach out to someone who might need a quiet check-in. Nick’s Movember page remains open for contributions, reminding people that small actions still matter as the campaign draws to a close.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
