LIV Golf Adelaide has once again been voted the world’s best golf event, marking its third consecutive win at the World Golf Awards held in Madeira, Portugal. The accolade reinforces the tournament’s growing reputation as a standout fixture on the global sporting calendar.
The 2025 edition of LIV Golf Adelaide, held at The Grange Golf Club, attracted a record-breaking crowd of more than 102,000 fans. The event delivered an $81.46 million boost to South Australia’s economy, making it one of the state’s most valuable annual sporting showcases. Headlined by Joaquin Niemann’s individual triumph and the Fireballs GC’s commanding team victory, this year’s tournament combined elite competition with an electric atmosphere that has become part of its identity.
LIV Golf Adelaide has also been re-certified to the GEO Tournament Standard, a global benchmark for sustainability and environmental leadership in golf. The certification recognises the tournament’s continued efforts to minimise environmental impact through responsible event practices and community engagement.
Premier Peter Malinauskas said the award confirmed Adelaide’s position as a host city capable of delivering world-class events. He credited the achievement to collaboration between the government, event organisers, and fans who travel from across the country to attend. He added that the government remains committed to improving the experience each year, building on what has already become a major drawcard for the state.
LIV Golf’s Executive Vice President and Head of Events, Ross Hallett, said the recognition reflected the tournament’s balance between sporting excellence, fan experience, and environmental awareness. He acknowledged the support of the South Australian Tourism Commission and event management partners at 54, who have helped shape LIV Golf Adelaide into a benchmark for professional tournaments worldwide.
Hallett said LIV Golf’s decision to expand future events to 72 holes and four days of competition would give fans more access to high-level play, premium hospitality, and family-friendly entertainment. The 2026 event, scheduled for 12–15 February at The Grange Golf Club, is expected to introduce new innovations and sustainability measures aimed at keeping Adelaide at the forefront of the modern golf experience.
LIV Golf Adelaide’s repeat recognition highlights how the tournament has managed to blend competition, community, and environmental accountability into an event that appeals to both dedicated golf fans and newcomers. For South Australia, it remains a strong example of how major sporting partnerships can deliver cultural and economic dividends while keeping a focus on long-term growth and sustainability.
