The countdown is on for one of Melbourne’s newest retail destinations. Frasers Property Australia has confirmed that the long-awaited Mambourin Marketplace will open to the public on Thursday, 18 September, kicking off four days of celebrations aimed at bringing the local community together.
Located at 36 Delama Boulevard in Mambourin, the $60 million neighbourhood centre is poised to become a central hub for residents in Melbourne’s West, offering a mix of shopping, services and dining. The launch event begins at 10am with a ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated by Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Mia Shaw.
The opening day promises to be lively, with Bollywood dancers, kids workshops by See Make Play, bubble performers and a live DJ. The festivities continue through to Sunday, featuring everything from roving dinosaur performers and live music to face painting, sunflower stilt walkers and roving bands.
Centre Manager Snigdha Sharma said the celebrations reflect the inclusive spirit of the centre itself. “We look forward to welcoming everyone to their new shopping centre and we encourage the whole community to take full advantage of all the free activities and special deals on offer,” she said.
“Just as there are a great range of shops and dining choices catering to everyone at Mambourin Marketplace, there will be something for everyone at our grand opening celebration too.”
The precinct includes a full-line Coles supermarket alongside a diverse mix of tenants such as Plus Fitness, Choice Pharmacy, Doctors & Co, Mambourin Meat & Fish, Burger Point, Smokin’ Joes Pizza & Pasta, and Sushi Hub. Services like Blue Hippo Laundry and My Fone Repairs round out the offering, giving locals more choice close to home.
Customers who spend $20 or more at any speciality retailer during the opening event period will receive a $20 Coles voucher, with 1,000 vouchers up for grabs until 20 September. Terms and conditions apply, with one redemption per person per day.
Adding a cultural note to the occasion, Wadawurrung artist Chloe Chatterton will unveil her new public artwork Woven Through Country. The piece draws on elements of the surrounding region such as the You Yangs, native grasslands and waterways. “Unity and coming together” is how Chloe describes the piece, which features Bunjil, the spirit creator, as a reminder to care for Country. Symbols of knowledge-sharing and communal gathering run through the work.
Frasers Property says the centre is designed to serve the growing Mambourin community and reflects their goal of developing strong, diverse neighbourhoods. With easy parking access off Delama Boulevard and Rail Circuit, and opening hours that accommodate both early shoppers and after-school diners, the Marketplace is set up to offer convenience and connection in equal measure.
Opening hours for Mambourin Marketplace are:
- Monday to Wednesday: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
- Thursday and Friday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
- Saturday: 9:30 am – 5:00 pm
- Sunday: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
