Each year, communities across Australia come together to celebrate Holi—a vibrant festival of love, renewal, and the triumph of good over evil. Rooted in ancient traditions, Holi is a time of joy, togetherness, and cultural pride.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has extended his warm wishes to all Australians celebrating Holi.

“For many of South Asian heritage, this will be a time of gathering with family and friends, of upholding shared faith, history and heritage,” he said.

“Our broader community will also relish the opportunity to join the festivities—coming together to eat, sing, dance or play with gulaal (coloured powder), and be inspired by the message of the triumph of good over evil.”

He emphasised that the festival’s message of unity and hope resonates with all Australians, reflecting the strength of the nation’s multicultural fabric.

Albanese praised the contributions of Australians of South Asian heritage, describing their energy, ambition, and drive as integral to Australia’s national story. He stated that cultural celebrations like Holi are a testament to the diversity that enriches modern Australia, serving as a source of pride and strength for the nation.

The Prime Minister further reflected on the importance of friendship and understanding in fostering a cohesive and thriving society. He expressed confidence that Australia’s continued growth and prosperity are built on the strong bonds of unity celebrated during occasions like Holi.

In closing, the Prime Minister wished all those observing Holi a joyful and colourful celebration, hoping it would bring happiness, renewal, and a deeper sense of connection to communities across the country.
