Dr. U. Ve. Venkatesh, a distinguished Vedic scholar and a medical doctor by training, has been in Melbourne for a series of spiritual discourses hosted by the Vedic Society of Victoria from March 7 to 10, 2025. The sessions, open to all, have provided attendees with an opportunity to engage with the teachings of the Sri Vaishnava tradition.
Dr. Venkatesh, a disciple of Dr. Sri U. Ve. Karunakarachariar Swamy and Brahmasri Subramanya Sastrigal from Kumbakonam, has delivered discourses across India for over a decade. His talks, featuring stories from the Upanishads and insights into Sri Vaishnava philosophy, have been widely broadcast on prominent Indian television channels such as Star Vijay, Jaya, Polimar, and Podigai. His ability to present ancient teachings in a relatable manner has earned him multiple accolades, including Viruvurai Vendhan, Acharya Ramanuja Vipradasan, Pravachana Tilakam, and Pravachana Vidyadhara. At just 24 years old, he became the youngest recipient of the Vaishnava Ratna award, a recognition of his deep knowledge and eloquence in spiritual discourse.
The event featured morning and evening sessions, covering topics such as the Gita Bhashyam and Kamba Ramayanam. On March 7 and 8, morning talks were held at Mount Street Neighbourhood House in Glen Waverley, with evening sessions taking place at St. Scholastica Community Centre in Bennettswood. The youth program, held on March 9, provided younger attendees with an engaging introduction to Vedic wisdom.
Today, March 10, marks the final day of the event, with a concluding session focused on the teachings of Kamba Ramayanam. The final discourse is scheduled from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at St. Scholastica Community Centre, offering attendees a last opportunity to immerse themselves in the profound insights shared by Dr. Venkatesh.
The organisers have extended their gratitude to all participants, encouraging continued engagement with the teachings of the Sri Vaishnava tradition. The event remains free of charge, with support from donations and sponsorships welcomed to help facilitate future programs.
For further details or to contribute, attendees can reach out to Usha Rangarajan, Raviganesh, or Paddy Padmanabhan. Donations can be made directly to the Vedic Society of Victoria, with payment details provided on the official event flyer.
The Vedic Society of Victoria continues its tradition of bringing renowned scholars to the community, reinforcing its commitment to preserving and sharing the rich teachings of the Sri Vaishnava tradition. As the Melbourne sessions conclude today, attendees can reflect on the wisdom imparted and look forward to future gatherings that celebrate these timeless teachings.
