The Indian Ministry of External Affairs is inviting young members of the Australian Indian diaspora to participate in the 80th and 81st editions of the Know India Programme (KIP). This immersive three-week journey is crafted for Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) aged 21 to 35, offering a unique opportunity to explore India’s rich heritage and modern developments.

Participants in the 80th edition, scheduled from 29th December 2024 to 17th January 2025, or the 81st edition, running from 2nd January to 21st January 2025, will attend the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in 2025. Activities include visits to iconic historical sites, cultural programmes, and interactive sessions with Indian university students. The programme also provides insights into India’s political, economic, and technological achievements, alongside its industrial advancements.

The initiative ensures accessibility by covering local hospitality, including boarding, lodging, and internal travel, while subsidising 90% of international airfare, leaving participants to contribute the remaining 10%.

The deadlines to apply are 5th December 2024 for the 80th edition and 9th December 2024 for the 81st edition. Interested candidates can contact the Indian Embassy or Consulate in their jurisdiction.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
