Multicultural and multifaith community groups across New South Wales will receive support to host grassroots festivals and events, thanks to the launch of Multicultural NSW’s Stronger Together Grants Program.
The program, which opened today, offers Festival and Event Grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 to help communities organize celebrations that embrace the state’s vibrant cultural diversity. Each year, hundreds of grassroots not-for-profit organisations use these grants to honor their cultural heritage and share food, music, and entertainment with the broader community.
Eligible community groups planning to hold festivals and events between August 2024 and February 2025 can apply for the funding. The grants are administered by Multicultural NSW on behalf of the NSW Government.
Joseph La Posta, CEO of Multicultural NSW, expressed pride in continuing the tradition of empowering communities through the Stronger Together Grants Program. “Cultural diversity is a precious part of our identity and way of life in NSW. In 2023-24, we supported over 200 festivals and events that showcased the vibrancy and richness of NSW communities,” he said.
“We are stronger together when people from diverse cultural, linguistic, and religious backgrounds work together on initiatives that make a difference.”
Applications for the grants close on Sunday, 28 July, at 5 pm.

Dear Reader,The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.
Thank you for your support.
Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
