Australian School of Employment will run a face-to-face Ideation 101 course as part of the Small Business Program for those looking to start their own career and build their own community

Small businesses in Parramatta are set to receive a major boost with a series of free workshops aimed at enhancing their budgeting, marketing, and grant writing skills. The City of Parramatta’s Small Business Program will offer over 13 workshops in the next six months, providing invaluable access to industry experts.

These workshops will cover various areas, including building financial literacy, empowering women in business, networking, support for writing grants, and learning about digital tools to accelerate business growth. City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Pierre Esber emphasised the importance of these initiatives, stating, “Small businesses are the backbone of our community, and we want to make sure business owners have the right tools and resources to thrive.”

Workshops will include topics such as growing an online audience, networking, and a cybersecurity webinar, all designed to support small businesses in navigating the challenges of running their operations.

The Australian School of Employment will also contribute to the program with a face-to-face Ideation 101 course. This course aims to support individuals looking to start their own careers and build a community around their businesses. CEO Taj Pabari expressed excitement about this partnership, highlighting the importance of community in their mission. “Partnering with the City of Parramatta allows us to extend our impact and foster local economic growth. Our goal has always been to operate from the communities we want to serve, so we’re now officially calling North Parramatta home,” said Pabari.

Western Sydney Business Centre’s Business Connect Advisor and Operations Manager Nathan Todd also voiced enthusiasm about the collaboration. “This is a big opportunity to provide advice to small businesses and showcase what our local area has to offer. The webinars will address the main issues currently faced by small businesses, providing useful insights and a roadmap to success.”

Local business owners are encouraged to take advantage of these free resources to enhance their skills and drive their businesses forward. To register for a workshop, visit http://atparramatta.com.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.
