The vibrant Townsville community recently came together to support a noble cause while indulging in the musical revelry of FUNtakshari. This delightful event was organised to raise funds for the construction of a new studio for Triple T 103.9 FM, a beloved community radio station.
A Musical Journey Uniting Communities
FUNtakshari, a spin-off of the popular Indian musical game “Antakshari,” brought together people of diverse backgrounds, ages, and musical tastes for an unforgettable two-day event. The occasion resonated with the spirit of unity and philanthropy, as the Townsville community rallied behind the cause of building a new studio for Triple T Community Radio.
Prelims and Grand Finale: A Musical Showdown
The event kicked off with an exciting preliminary round on the first day, where numerous teams participated, each eager to showcase their musical prowess. The competition was fierce, and the songs flowed like a river, captivating the audience with melodies from different eras and languages.
Out of the spirited preliminary round, the top ten teams emerged as finalists, earning the chance to battle it out in the grand finale. The finals took place on Friday, October 13th, at Dance North, and the atmosphere was electric. Participants and spectators alike eagerly anticipated the musical showdown that was about to unfold.
Local Businesses Join Hands
The success of FUNtakshari would not have been possible without the support of the local business community. The event was proudly sponsored by local businesses, with “My Family Dental” stepping in as the naming sponsor. Additional teams were sponsored by various local businesses, all of whom shared a common goal: to contribute to the construction of a new studio for Triple T Community Radio.
And the Winner Is…
As the musical battles reached their climax, it was the ABC Towing team that emerged victorious, claiming the coveted title in the grand final. Their knowledge of songs and their ability to keep the melodies flowing won the hearts of the judges, Rahul Dua and Smitha, and the audience.
Distinguished Guests and Memorable Moments
The event was graced by distinguished guests who added to the grandeur of the evening. Deputy Mayor Cr Mark Molachino, along with the Triple T Manager and My Family Dental practice manager, was present as the chief guest. Their presence added prestige to the occasion, and their words of appreciation and encouragement resonated with the community.
“Rahul, Naam toh Suna hi hoga” – The Dialogue
As the musical notes soared and the competition heated up, one dialogue captured the essence of the contest: “Rahul, Naam toh Suna hi hoga.” This famous Bollywood dialogue served as a source of entertainment and humour, keeping the audience engaged and entertained.
Additional Highlights
The event was anchored by the charismatic Aparna, who kept the audience entertained with her wit and charm. The fundraiser organiser and hostess, Asha, played a pivotal role in ensuring the event’s success, and her dedication to the cause was highly commendable.
The talented winners of FUNtakshari were Dipi Chaudhary and Nilpa Keshwala, whose musical knowledge and enthusiasm stood out among the competitors. Local artist Jonah, a 10-year-old prodigy, and Nivrithi on the guitar, mesmerised the audience with their musical talents, leaving everyone in awe.
FUNtakshari was not just a musical contest; it was a celebration of the Townsville community’s unity and generosity. The event successfully raised funds to support the construction of a new studio for Triple T 103.9 FM, ensuring that the power of community radio continues to thrive and enrich the lives of Townsville residents.
The organisers, participants, sponsors, and the entire Townsville community deserve accolades for making FUNtakshari a grand success.
