Neal Mohan joins the club of Indian-American executives helming tech giants as he becomes the new CEO of YouTube, a video division of Google. Mohan replaces Susan Wojcicki, who is stepping down after decades of service in the company.

According to a letter by Wojcicki posted on YouTube’s corporate blog for employees, she said she was leaving to spend more time with her family and focus on her health and personal projects.

The Washington Post said, Wojcicki has been part of Google since the company’s beginnings in 1998. Google acquired YouTube, one of the world’s most important entertainment platforms, in 2006.

In a post on Twitter, Mohan expressed his excitement over the new role while thanking Wojcicki for her work in building YouTube into an “extraordinary home for creators and viewers”.

“I am excited to continue this awesome and important mission. Looking forward to what lies ahead,” he said.
