Entries for Wyndham Art Prize 2020 are now open, with the top prize of $12,000 up for grabs

Now in its sixth year, the Wyndham Art Prize attracts entries from some of Australia’s best artists.

Arts and Heritage Portfolio Holder Cr Tony Hooper said the Art Prize offered established and emerging artists the opportunity to see their work alongside highly esteemed artists all vying for the big prize.

Works can include paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, new media, photography and film.

“Visitors to the exhibition will be treated to a variety of works by talented artists from across the country and will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite piece with the People’s Choice Award,” Cr Hooper said.

The cash prize for the People’s Choice Award, sponsored by Arts Assist, is $2,500 and a $5,000 prize is on offer for the Local Emerging Artist Prize.

This year’s judges include Louise Tegart from the Art Gallery of Ballarat, CRAFT Victoria’s Chloë Powell, and the National Gallery of Victoria’s Myles Russell-Cook.

Entries to the Wyndham Art Prize open are open until 28 February. For more information go to: https://www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/wyndhamartprize

We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution.
