Metricon Homes celebrated Diwali in style with festivities, cooking, food and fun at its Somerset Signature show home in Mount Waverley, VIC. The special guest was Sashi Cheliah, 2018 Masterchef winner, who once again, demonstrated recipes that celebrate his Indian and Singaporean heritage in the home’s luxurious kitchen.

More than 80 guests were treated to Sashi’s cooking which included Semolina Pancake with Smoked Chicken Tikka and Payasam Crème brulee—a deliciously sweet and creamy dessert. Sashi laughed and joked as he chatted with the audience, bringing his passion for food to life. “It was amazing to prepare dishes I love in such a beautiful kitchen with an excited crowd,” he said. “It is fantastic to join Metricon to celebrate Diwali again this year. Diwali is a beloved Hindu festival of lights symbolising the triumph over darkness and ignorance. Everything has to stop. It is all about food, friends and family. Whatever problems you have throughout the year, for that one day you let loose and forget all about it”, added Sashi. (Article continues after photo gallery)

Guests also enjoyed Bollywood dancing, and lighting installations. There were children’s art and crafts available for the little ones and and Diwali candles given out to all families who attended. We were delighted to open up our Somerset home to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights,” said Damian Morabito, Metricon’s Inner Urban Sales Manager.

This is the second year Metricon has formally celebrated this auspicious occasion, and we’re pleased to be increasing our understanding of the cultural events that are so important to our customers,” Mr Morabito added.

Celebratory events in Metricon’s homes are becoming a large part of how we do things,” Mr Morabito said. “Signature by Metricon homes have been created for the discerning buyer wanting a unique and personalised home, so it is important for us to offer connected entertainment experiences.

“What better way to bring family, entertaining and celebration to life than in a home they too could build?” concluded Mr Morabito.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.
