Celebrate India’s Diwali @ Fed Square preparations are well in progress now as the festival of lights is just around the corner. The promotional events have already started and can be seen on their website and Facebook page.
“While the ‘Unique Talent Quest’ has just ended, the “Dance For Diwali” competition is on till 15 September, inviting younger groups and solo artists to show their talent. Great prizes in store as the solo categories winners will get a return ticket to India, sponsored by Singapore Airlines and the winner of the group dance gets a trophy and cash prize sponsored by Gaura Travels and a chance to perform during Diwali @ Fed Square,” says Arun Sharma, Chairman, Celebrate India.
This year’s ‘Light for Diwali’ competition has a cross cultural theme when Celebrate India is inviting the community to illuminate their homes and businesses for Diwali to Xmas and win some amazing prizes.
International students and those on a work visa are specially invited to participate in all activities as this is a great way of getting to know the community.
Celebrate India is delighted to achieve this part of our festival celebrations again (after Coles and subsequently Safeway agreeing to the Diwali sale). There will be a Diwali sale with a massive discount of 40% for a ride at Melbourne Star. Diwali celebrations are on from 14 October to 19 October.

Support Independent Community Journalism
Dear Reader,The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.
We operate independently.
Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.
When you support The Indian Sun, you support:
• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers
We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.
If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.
Please consider making a contribution today.
Thank you for your support.
