Roll out the streamers, prepare a plate and enjoy a street party with your neighbours!
Wyndham City is launching a twelve-month trial of Street Parties on Saturday, 30 March, to coincide with Neighbour Day. Wyndham Street Parties is a new program reviving a longstanding tradition that will see residents host get-togethers in their streets.
Wyndham City is supporting the program with an easy how-to guide, a streamlined approval process, neighbourhood grants, dedicated support and safe closure of approved streets for up to four hours.
Wyndham City Mayor and Family Friendly City portfolio holder Cr Mia Shaw said she was excited about the prospect of seeing street parties pop up across neighbourhoods in Wyndham.
“A street party is a fun way to meet neighbours for the first time or strengthen existing friendships in an informal setting where they can chat, share a meal, as well as play music and games,” Cr Shaw said.
“We’ve tried to think of everything to help residents host a safe, fun, family-friendly get together in their local neighbourhood to make them a roaring success. I encourage residents to get together with your neighbours and start planning your Wyndham Street Party now.”
Wyndham City will be launching the Street Party pilot program on 30 March at the Tarneit Community Games, which will be held at Seasons Main Park on Sundial Boulevard in Tarneit from 11am-3pm. Council staff will be on hand to provide more information and Wyndham Street Parties application forms will be available
The pilot program will run for twelve months. For more information and to apply to host a street party, visit www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/streetparties
