At the India Day Fest this August, Jhankaar Academy of Dance will present two interesting performances — “Unity in diversity”, which will feature a dance that showcases India’s culture from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu; and a Kathak-Bharatnatyam fusion.
Jhankaar was established in the western suburbs of Melbourne, to develop the interest in various forms of Indian dances. The school offers training in two forms of Indian classical dancing — kathak and bharatnatyam — along with Indian contemporary and Bollywood styles.
The founders of Jhankaar, Deepshikha and Saheli, after spending years working and teaching various forms of dancing in the USA, India, Singapore and Australia decided to dedicate their time and experience to create something they believe can make a real difference to many peoples’ lives.
