
The AIA Junior Circuit 1 U15/U19 tournament recently concluded at the Bendigo Eaglehawk Badminton Stadium, showcasing Australia’s emerging badminton talent.
In the U19 Men’s Singles, Chauncey Zhou from Pro Badminton Academy (PBA) clinched the title, with fellow PBA player Wey Shawn Ng as runner-up. The Women’s Singles saw Sarah Ung (PBA) triumph over Alphonsa Bijomon of Zen Badminton Academy.
The Men’s Doubles crown was claimed by Christopher Alexander Go and Caleb Teo, representing HP Badminton and Strive Badminton Academy respectively. They overcame Zehou Li (Westside Badminton) and Nicholas Ung (PBA) in the final.
In Women’s Doubles, the pairing of Kishen Lew (Infinity BA) and Hanna Zhang (HP Badminton) emerged victorious against Alphonsa Bijomon and Xiwen Liang, who represented Zen Badminton Academy and PBA.
The Mixed Doubles title went to Caleb Teo and Kaitlyn Rodrigues of Strive Badminton Academy, defeating PBA’s Nicholas Ung and Xiwen Liang.
Turning to the U15 category, Chen Qui (PBA) secured the Boys’ Singles title, with Augustus Wang from Westside Badminton Association (WSBA) as runner-up. The Girls’ Singles was dominated by Ace Badminton, with Tanya Shirshova taking the top spot over teammate Summer Zixuan Wang.
In Boys’ Doubles, Chen Qui teamed up with Wayne Xiang (Ming Badminton Academy) to secure victory against Yuanhao Luo and Aditya Narain Singh of HP Badminton.
The Girls’ Doubles champions were Livia Huang and Lily Muyao Zhang from ABTC, who bested Alexa Bijomon (Zen Badminton Academy) and Rudra Santhosh (PBA).
Finally, the Mixed Doubles title was claimed by Wayne Xiang (Ming Badminton Academy) and Livia Huang (ABTC), overcoming Eric Lixing Guo and Ella Zimo Che from Ace Badminton.
The tournament highlighted the dedication and skill of Australia’s young badminton players, promising a bright future for the sport.
