Who's Who of Sydney's Indian Community 2018
Vishnu Daram

Vishnu Daram (Entrepreneur)

Owner of Taj Voyages, Vishnu Daram, who began his Australian journey in 2003, says he likes the country most for its culture and adaptiveness to migrants.

Vishnu says he wants to make his travel business a global company and offer tours and holidays as an experience to remember, and most importantly at a good price. As a first step Taj Voyages has expanded their operations to London, having made its presence felt in the UK market. Their next move is to target the surging Indian market where there is an exceptional increase in demand for tours and holidays beyond Singapore and Dubai.

Vishnu, who started with a cash job in a coffee shop, is proud to be a businessman in a country so far away from the land of his birth. “When I look back and think of where I started and where I am today, it encourages me to do even more,” he says.

Vishnu is a realist and believes no business is small or big, no customer is small or big. “Treat every opportunity, every client the same and do your best,” he says.

Vishnu enjoys music and sports and loves collecting stamps. Though not an avid reader, he likes reading biographies and inspirational articles. Abdul Kalam’s words, “A dream is not what you see in your sleep… a dream is what does not let you sleep”, are what inspire him.

The way I see it

Growth? It means never compromising on one’s dreams, no matter what.

My advice to budding entrepreneurs. Plan and grow one step at a time; nobody becomes successful or rich overnight.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.
