South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas has extended his best wishes to the Indian community ahead of India’s Independence Day on 15 August 2026.
In his message, Malinauskas recognised the importance of the occasion and reflected on the values shared by India and South Australia, including democracy, diversity, resilience and opportunity.
The Premier said the anniversary was an opportunity to reflect on India’s history and its development as an influential country on the world stage.
He also highlighted the ongoing relationship between South Australia and India, expressing a commitment to continued cooperation and connections in the years ahead.
“Indian Independence Day is a chance for us to celebrate the values that South Australia and India share, including democracy, diversity, resilience and a commitment to opportunity for all,” Malinauskas said.
The Premier said the occasion also offered an opportunity to look towards future partnerships focused on peace, prosperity and opportunities for coming generations.
He wished members of the Indian community a celebration filled with pride, joy and unity, while recognising the connection between heritage and country.
The message was also signed by South Australian Minister for Multicultural Affairs Nadia Clancy and dated 11 August 2026.
