The Victorian Government has announced almost $6 million in funding for multicultural and multifaith organisations across the state, with Craigieburn’s Kali Mata Mandir set to receive more than $80,000 for security upgrades.
Minister for Multicultural and Multifaith Victoria Ingrid Stitt announced the successful recipients of the 2025-26 Multicultural Infrastructure and Security Program (MISP), which will provide funding to 57 organisations to improve, maintain and secure community facilities across Victoria.
Kali Mata Mandir will use the funding to upgrade its security camera system and lighting, while the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East in Coolaroo will receive more than $380,000 for exterior security lighting, an upgraded security camera system and inground bollards.
Stitt visited both organisations on Friday to announce the funding.
The program supports renovations, refurbishments and security improvements to community facilities used by multicultural and faith communities, with the aim of providing safe, accessible and culturally appropriate places for people to gather, celebrate their heritage and practise their faith.
Funded projects in this year’s round represent around 24 ethnic communities and 14 faith groups across Victoria.
Fifteen of the successful projects are located in regional and rural Victoria, while 42 are based in metropolitan Melbourne. The latest round also includes funding for new and emerging organisations that have not previously received multicultural infrastructure funding.
Stitt said the government remained committed to supporting Victoria’s multicultural communities.
“Only Labor can be trusted to truly support Victoria’s multicultural communities.”
She said the funding would help ensure community organisations continued to have safe places to meet.
“We’re proud to continue our work to support Victoria’s multicultural and multifaith communities and ensure that all Victorians have spaces where they can feel proud and safe to express who they are.”
The Multicultural Infrastructure and Security Program provides grants for projects that improve the safety, accessibility and functionality of community facilities used by Victoria’s diverse multicultural and faith communities.
