Federal Member for Moreton Julie-Ann Campbell visited the Urdu Forum’s language classes in Brisbane on Sunday, meeting students, parents, teachers and volunteers involved in the community language education program.
The visit gave the federal MP an opportunity to learn about the organisation’s work in promoting Urdu language education, supporting cultural heritage and encouraging multilingual learning among young Australians.
Julie-Ann Campbell spent time speaking with students about their learning experiences and met with parents and volunteers to discuss the role community language schools play in preserving language and culture while strengthening community connections.
Students welcomed the opportunity to meet their local federal representative and share their experiences of learning Urdu. Discussions during the visit also focused on the value of community language education in supporting multiculturalism and social cohesion across Australia.
Urdu Forum used the occasion to highlight its educational programs and its efforts to help young people maintain connections with their linguistic and cultural heritage while developing skills that can benefit them in an increasingly diverse society.
The organisation said the visit helped showcase the work undertaken by community-led language schools and the contribution they make to Australia’s multicultural communities.

Urdu Forum has been active in promoting Urdu language education through classes, cultural programs and community initiatives designed to encourage language learning among people of all ages.
The organisation says its programs help students strengthen their understanding of Urdu language and culture while supporting broader community engagement.
Community language schools continue to play an important role across Australia, where thousands of students attend weekend classes to maintain connections with their family languages and cultural traditions.
Urdu Forum said it remains committed to promoting Urdu language and culture while supporting young Australians in developing multilingual skills and a deeper appreciation of their cultural heritage.
