outh Australia’s defence and space precinct at Lot Fourteen has added two new tenants, with French manufacturer Axon Cable and Western Australian law firm Bennett Litigation and Commercial Law establishing a base in the state’s innovation hub.
Axon Cable, a global supplier of customised cables, connectors and interconnect systems used across defence, aerospace, medical and automotive sectors, is strengthening its Australian footprint as it builds closer ties with local industry. The company already supplies components to ASC at the Osborne Naval Shipyard and says its presence at Lot Fourteen will support deeper collaboration across defence, naval shipbuilding and space programs.
Bennett Litigation and Commercial Law has also expanded into South Australia, broadening its defence practice to support clients involved in complex infrastructure and maritime projects. The firm has been involved in work linked to major defence programs, including the SEA1180 Arafura Class Offshore Patrol Vessel project, and says its Adelaide base will strengthen engagement with clients across Osborne and Western Australia’s Henderson precinct.
Both organisations have joined the Defence and Space Landing Pad, a program managed by Defence SA that provides workspace, government support and business advisory services to help companies establish operations in South Australia’s growing defence and space sectors.
Since opening in 2018, the Landing Pad has supported more than 20 companies to enter the South Australian market, including international defence and technology firms such as Kongsberg, Egis and L3Harris, along with Australian space company Gilmour Space Technologies.
Defence Industry Minister Chris Picton said the arrival of Axon Cable and Bennett reflected continued interest from global and interstate firms in South Australia’s defence capability and supply chain opportunities.
Axon Cable Australian Units Global Manager Stéphane Watier said locating at Lot Fourteen placed the company closer to existing customers and emerging projects, allowing it to respond more directly to industry needs.
Bennett Litigation and Commercial Law principal and defence co-lead Shemali Samaraweera said the move was a natural extension of the firm’s work in defence and maritime sectors, supporting complex projects across Australia’s shipbuilding hubs.
Lot Fourteen State Project Lead Di Dixon said the Landing Pad continued to attract companies seeking to establish a foothold in South Australia’s defence and space industries, pointing to growing demand for specialised capability in the sector.
The expansion comes as South Australia continues to position itself as a key centre for defence manufacturing and space-related industries, supported by ongoing investment and long-term national projects.
