Vivid Sydney has added more artists to its free Tumbalong Nights program, with organisers expanding the live music lineup ahead of this year’s festival in Darling Harbour.

The series, held at Tumbalong Park, will run throughout Vivid Sydney from 22 May to 13 June and continue its focus on free, all-ages performances featuring local and international acts.

Among the newly announced additions is Australian band Eddy Current Suppression Ring, which will perform a rare Sydney show on 12 June. The appearance marks the group’s first performance in the city in more than 15 years. Melbourne act Chikchika will join the lineup as support.

South Korean artist Dept is also set to perform alongside K-pop musician SHAUN on 30 May, bringing tracks from his latest album Dream Age to the festival stage. Chinese rapper Chalky Wong has also been added to the bill for 29 May, joining previously announced artists Sebii, Billionhappy and KimJ.

Australian singer-songwriter Gretta Ray is scheduled to perform with Matt Corby on 13 June.

The program will also feature themed DJ events on Sunday nights. Vivid Fiesta, hosted by DJ Sebi D on 24 May, will focus on Latin music, while FBI Radio DJ and former Vivid Music curator Stephen Ferris will lead a funk and soul event titled Soul’d Out on 31 May.

The new additions join a broader lineup that already includes Nigerian afrobeat musician Seun Kuti, Jamaican reggae group The Congos, Australian artist Mallrat and Moonlight Opera, presented by the Australian Opera Young Artists Program.

Vivid Sydney remains one of the state’s largest annual cultural events, drawing both interstate and international visitors to the city each year. The festival combines music, light installations, food and live performances across multiple locations in Sydney.

The NSW Government said expanding the Tumbalong Nights schedule reflects ongoing demand for free live entertainment during the festival period, particularly events aimed at broad audiences and families.

Tourism and hospitality operators are also expected to benefit from increased evening activity across the city during the three-week program.

Vivid Sydney is produced by Destination NSW, with the full Tumbalong Nights schedule now available through the festival website.

Support Independent Community Journalism

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun exists for one reason: to tell stories that might otherwise go unheard.
We report on local councils, state politics, small businesses and cultural festivals. We focus on the Indian diaspora and the wider multicultural community with care, balance and accountability. We publish in print and online, send regular newsletters and produce video content. We also run media training programs to help community organisations share their own stories.

We operate independently.

Community journalism does not have the backing of large media corporations. Advertising revenue fluctuates. Platform algorithms change. Costs continue to rise. Yet the need for credible, grounded reporting in a multicultural Australia has never been greater.

When you support The Indian Sun, you support:

• Independent reporting on issues affecting migrant communities
• Coverage of local and state decisions that shape daily life
• A platform for small businesses and community groups
• Media training that builds skills within the community
• Journalism accountable to readers

We cannot cover everything, but we work to cover what matters.

If you value thoughtful reporting that reflects Australia’s diversity, we invite you to contribute. Every donation helps us maintain the quality and consistency of our work.

Please consider making a contribution today.

Thank you for your support.
