Australian electronic duo The Presets will headline this year’s Norwood Food and Wine Festival with a free performance during AFL Gather Round celebrations.
The pair are set to perform on Sunday 12 April at 5.30pm along The Parade, where thousands of football fans and festivalgoers are expected to gather across the day.
Known for tracks including My People, Talk Like That and This Boy’s In Love, The Presets have become one of Australia’s best-known electronic acts since releasing their debut album Beams in 2005. The duo have collected seven ARIA Awards, including Album of the Year for Apocalypso.
The free concert will form part of a full day of activity at the Norwood Food and Wine Festival, which opens at 11am ahead of the AFL match between the Geelong Cats and the West Coast Eagles at Norwood Oval.
Festivalgoers can expect a mix of food, drinks and live entertainment, with local venues offering dishes such as pasta, wagyu burgers, porchetta skewers and Algerian-style paella. South Australian wine, beer and spirits will also be featured throughout the event.
Cooking demonstrations are also planned through the Tasting Australia Kitchen, with local chefs set to take part during the day.
More than 90,000 people attended last year’s festival, with organisers reporting attendance was up 28 per cent compared with the previous year.
South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas said the free entry and broad mix of food and drink options helped make the festival an accessible part of Gather Round celebrations.
He said the event also provided an opportunity to showcase South Australia to visitors from around the country.
“Live music always adds to the street party atmosphere, and we are thrilled The Presets will bring their unique style and energy to this celebration,” he said.
Member for Dunstan Cressida O’Hanlon said the festival highlighted the appeal of The Parade and supported local businesses in the area.
“It’s fantastic to see world-class artists like The Presets performing right here in Norwood, creating a free event locals and visitors can enjoy,” she said.
Julian Hamilton from The Presets said the combination of sport, food, wine and music made the event a natural fit for the group.
“We’re pumped to perform for our South Australian fans again, plus all the interstaters who love Gather Round and the chance to spend time in this cracking city,” he said.
The Norwood Food and Wine Festival takes place on Sunday 12 April, with free entry available throughout the day. Gather Round patrons with a valid match ticket will also be able to travel free on the City-Norwood shuttle bus.
