DPR Korea and China PR opened the latest round of tournament matches with decisive victories on Friday, setting up key fixtures in the coming days as teams across Asia continue their campaigns in Australia.
DPR Korea secured a 5–0 win over Bangladesh, producing an attacking performance that saw them score five goals and maintain their strong start to the competition. The result places them firmly in contention ahead of their next Group B match.
Bangladesh continued their campaign in what is their first appearance at this level of Asian competition. Despite the heavy scoreline, the side remained committed throughout the match.
“DPR Korea delivered a powerful attacking display to secure a convincing victory, scoring five goals to continue their strong start to the tournament and set up a Group B showdown with China,” organisers said.
Bangladesh’s participation has drawn attention as the team competes in its historic debut at the tournament.
“Bangladesh showed courage and commitment throughout, continuing their historic debut campaign and gaining valuable experience on Asia’s biggest stage,” the statement said.
Earlier in the day, China PR defeated Uzbekistan 3–0 in a controlled performance that reflected the team’s status as defending champions. Goals from Shao Ziqin and Li Qingtong helped guide the side to victory against a determined Uzbek team.
India faces Japan in Perth on Saturday at 7pm before meeting Chinese Taipei in Sydney on Tuesday at 8pm, with the two matches set to shape the team’s progress in the group stage. Tickets start from $20 for adults and $10 for children
“China PR produced a composed and clinical performance to secure a solid 3-0 win, with goals from Shao Ziqin and Li Qingtong guiding the defending champions to victory,” organisers said.
Uzbekistan remained competitive across the match despite the margin.
“Uzbekistan competed with determination against one of Asia’s traditional powerhouses,” the statement said.
Attention now turns to the next round of fixtures across Perth, the Gold Coast and Sydney as teams continue their group-stage matches.
Chinese Taipei will face Vietnam in Perth on Saturday at 1pm, followed later in the evening by India taking on Japan at the same venue at 7pm.
Sunday’s schedule features Iran against the Philippines on the Gold Coast at 7pm, before Australia meets Korea in Sydney at 8pm. Organisers confirmed that the final batch of tickets for the Sydney match has recently been released.
Matches resume on Monday with Bangladesh playing Uzbekistan in Perth at 5pm, followed by a key Group B contest between DPR Korea and China in Sydney at 8pm.
Tuesday’s fixtures see Japan take on Vietnam in Perth at 5pm, while India will meet Chinese Taipei in Sydney at 8pm.
Tickets for matches begin at $20 for adults and $10 for children.
