LIV Golf Adelaide has delivered a record-breaking year in South Australia, with organisers confirming the tournament has officially become the largest golf event ever staged in Australia by attendance.

More than 115,000 spectators passed through the gates across four days at The Grange Golf Club, setting a new high-water mark for golf crowds nationwide. The figure eclipsed the 112,000 who attended the 2025 Australian Open, reinforcing Adelaide’s growing profile as a major destination for large-scale sporting events.

Saturday proved to be a standout moment across the week, drawing 38,500 fans in a single day, the biggest one-day crowd in LIV Golf history. The numbers reflect the event’s expanding appeal, attracting not only dedicated golf followers but also families, interstate visitors and international travellers.

The tournament has increasingly become known for its distinctive festival atmosphere, combining elite sport with entertainment and fan-focused experiences. This year’s expanded four-day, 72-hole format provided more opportunities for spectators to engage with the event, while performances from artists including Peking Duk, Royel Otis, John Summit and FISHER helped shape a program that extended well beyond the fairways.

Ripper Point returned as one of the tournament’s signature spaces, with large crowds gathering throughout the weekend, alongside a busy fan village offering activities and hospitality options. Free public transport across the Adelaide Metro network, along with free entry for children aged 12 and under, also supported strong attendance and accessibility.

On course, the competition delivered major moments, with Anthony Kim clinching the title on Sunday afternoon in front of a highly charged crowd. The field featured many of the sport’s biggest names, including Cam Smith, Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, while Australian rising talent Elvis Smylie also featured, adding local interest to an already star-studded lineup.

Beyond the sporting spectacle, the event has been promoted as a major economic driver for the state. Forward bookings across Adelaide hotels exceeded 85 per cent on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, equating to nearly 10,000 rooms occupied each night on average. Tourism operators, hospitality venues and the broader events workforce reported a busy weekend as the city filled with visiting fans.

Premier Peter Malinauskas said the tournament’s success reflects South Australia’s broader strategy of investing in major events that bring both global attention and local economic returns.

Since its launch in 2023, LIV Golf Adelaide has injected more than $217 million into the South Australian economy, including a record $81 million contribution last year alone. With this year’s attendance reaching new heights, expectations are that the overall impact will surpass previous results.

LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil also acknowledged the Adelaide crowds, describing the experience as something unique within the league’s calendar. He thanked The Grange for hosting and welcomed the transition to Kooyonga Golf Club, which will stage the next edition.

Momentum is already building for the future, with tickets for LIV Golf Adelaide 2027 going on sale today. The tournament is scheduled to be held from March 18 to 21 at Kooyonga, and organisers anticipate strong demand following this year’s record-setting event.

With its combination of elite competition, large crowds and city-wide tourism benefits, LIV Golf Adelaide has firmly positioned itself as one of the most prominent fixtures on Australia’s sporting calendar.
