The Victorian Multicultural Commission has officially announced that Cultural Diversity Week (CDW) will take place across the state from 21 to 29 March 2026. The week is dedicated to celebrating the power, influence, and stories of Victoria’s rich multicultural communities, inviting all Victorians to participate in a variety of in-person events and activities.
“Cultural Diversity Week is a time to celebrate the power, influence, and stories of Victoria’s rich multicultural communities,” the Commission said.
The Commission encourages everyone to get involved in multiple ways:
-
Participate: Host an event or activity such as a lunch, workshop, storytelling session, or cultural performance in your community, workplace, or school. Participants who upload their events to VMConnect and tag @multiculturevic with #CDW2026 on social media will be eligible for prizes.
-
Celebrate: Join the digital campaign by creating a short video that explores another culture and reflects the theme “Culture connects us all.” Sharing these stories online with the appropriate tags can also win prizes.
-
Share: Spread the word by sharing Cultural Diversity Week materials through social media platforms and messaging apps like WhatsApp, WeChat, Messenger, and Facebook groups to reach wider and diverse audiences.
-
Attend: The week’s highlight will be the Victorian Multicultural Festival from 27 to 29 March, held at the iconic Grazeland in Spotswood. The festival promises a vibrant celebration uniting Victoria’s diverse communities.
Community members, businesses, and organisations are encouraged to receive the Stakeholder Engagement Pack distributed by the Commission and to pass it along to their networks to inspire broader participation.

Dear Reader,The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.
Thank you for your support.
Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
