South Australia is investing $20 million over the next four years to create and upgrade spaces that celebrate the state’s cultural diversity. The new Multicultural Community Fund, announced by the State Government, is the largest investment ever made in multicultural community facilities in South Australia.
The funding will go towards new community centres, clubs and outdoor gathering spaces, as well as major upgrades to existing venues. The aim is to create more inclusive, accessible and culturally welcoming facilities that encourage connection and belonging across the state.
The government said the initiative reflects the importance of safe, shared spaces in helping communities reduce isolation, build resilience and strengthen cultural identity. By supporting both established and emerging groups, the Fund is expected to provide long-term social and cultural benefits for generations to come.
Multicultural Affairs Minister Zoe Bettison said the investment highlights the government’s commitment to ensuring that South Australia remains an inclusive and connected place to live.
“Our multicultural communities are among South Australia’s greatest strengths,” she said. “We know that having inclusive, accessible community centres and outdoor gathering spaces is vital to reducing isolation and promoting wellbeing. With this Fund we’re supporting new and emerging groups as well as established ones, investing in infrastructure that will strengthen identity, connection and inclusion for generations to come.”
Applications for the Fund are now open to eligible multicultural organisations and local councils. Funded projects are expected to provide opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together and share their cultures.
