Hello Zindagi is set to celebrate its first anniversary this Saturday, 18 October, with a Diwali-themed get-together at the Knox Library Program Hall. The event, designed in the spirit of Christmas cheer, will bring together community members for an afternoon of connection, culture and celebration.
Ruchi Sharma, founder and presenter of Hello Zindagi, said the milestone marks a year of building community and creating spaces for people to share stories, find support and celebrate cultural identity in a welcoming environment.
Guests can expect a mix of entertainment, reflection and festive fun. The program begins at noon with lunch and mingling, followed by talks from chief guests and speakers, a mindfulness session, live singing and karaoke, and dance performances by children. Certificates and acknowledgements will also be presented before the afternoon winds down with tea, cookies and conversations.

The event’s light-hearted Diwali Kris Kringle gift exchange is expected to add an extra touch of fun, with participants encouraged to bring a small present valued between $5 and $10.
“Hello Zindagi has always been about celebrating life, kindness and community,” said Ruchi Sharma. “This anniversary brings everyone together to reflect on how far we’ve come and to spread the joy of Diwali with our extended family.”
The Hello Zindagi team said they look forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new members to join in the festivities, which capture both the warmth of Diwali and the togetherness of Christmas.

Dear Reader,The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.
Thank you for your support.
Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
