The Greater Springfield Indian Association (GSIA) once again turned Robelle Domain Parklands into a burst of colour and rhythm with Dandiya Night 2025. The celebration drew hundreds of families, friends, and community leaders together for an evening of dance, food, and shared joy.
Dandiya, a traditional dance from Gujarat, celebrates the victory of good over evil through the story of Goddess Durga and Mahishasura. The GSIA brought the legend alive with energetic performances, dazzling attire, and an infectious community spirit that saw people of all ages join in the fun.
Federal MP Shayne Neumann said, “Just when you thought you couldn’t pack any more excitement into one day, there’s…the Greater Springfield Indian Association INC Dandiya Night. Huge thanks to GSIA President Mukesh Dubey and his team for organising another spectacular evening of music, dance, food and cultural celebration—and bringing people together.”
Local MP Paul Tully praised the organisers too, saying, “This evening, I am at Robelle Domain Parklands, Springfield Central for the 2025 Greater Springfield Dandiya Night for an evening of music, dancing, cultural performances, and great food stalls. Congratulations to the Greater Springfield Indian Association INC for this beautiful night.”
Volunteers Xavier and his friend described the night as unforgettable. “From the incredible music and dancing to the mouth-watering food, laughter, and beautiful friendships made on the night—the energy was just amazing. Thank you President Mukesh Dubey and team for making us feel part of the family. A shout-out to the entire GSIA Committee!”
Ipswich City Councillor Pye Augustine called it a celebration of family fun and cultural pride. “Tonight I attended the Greater Springfield Dandiya Night 2025—Once More Dhamakedaar! The night was filled with fun, dance, and vibrant cultural celebration. With non-stop Garba beats by Live DJ URI, delicious treats from Wah Wah Swad Food Stalls, and unforgettable dance performances, it was a night of family fun and cultural pride. Thank you to the GSIA for organising a great night.”
The crowd was further energised by the Brisbane Dhol Tasha Pathak, whose drumming had everyone clapping and dancing. The group said, “Last night our Brisbane Dhol Tasha Pathak had the privilege of performing at the Garba Night organised by Greater Springfield Indian Association (GSIA). The energy, the music, and the vibrant crowd made it a truly memorable evening. We are grateful to GSIA for inviting us and for the wonderful memento and appreciation. A power-packed performance by the team!”
Members of the Philippines-Australia Multicultural Association (PAMA) Inc. were also among the guests, showing the diversity of the event. “Two weeks after PAMA SpringFest 2025, I am back at the Robelle Domain ‘The Circle’ to immerse myself in GREATER SPRINGFIELD DANDIYA NIGHT organised by my brother from another mother Mukesh Dubey… It’s fantastic to have large community and cultural events like this in Brisbane, and especially in Greater Springfield. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn from other cultures, make new connections, and simply appreciate humanity. Well done Mukesh and the GSIA team for the warm hospitality and the elegant sarongs handed out to VIPs and dignitaries. The event was a great success, with a massive crowd all dancing—the energy was incredible!”
The organisers thanked Hon Wendy Bourne MP for attending. “Thank you so much Hon Wendy Bourne MP for your kind words and for joining us at the GREATER SPRINGFIELD DANDIYA NIGHT. It was truly an honour to have your presence at our signature community event. Your continued support and appreciation mean a lot to our Indian community—it inspires us to celebrate and share our rich culture with even more enthusiasm each year.”
Queensland Premier Hon David Crisafulli MP also sent his message of support, recognising the importance of multicultural events in strengthening community ties. He praised the GSIA for celebrating Dandiya through traditional music, dance, and authentic Indian food, and acknowledged the government’s ongoing commitment to multicultural funding initiatives.
Responding to his message, the GSIA said, “Heartfelt Thanks to Honourable David Crisafulli MP, Premier of Queensland. We extend our sincere gratitude for your kind support and encouragement towards GREATER SPRINGFIELD DANDIYA NIGHT. Your thoughtful message has filled us with positive energy and festive spirit, adding even more joy to our celebrations. On behalf of GSIA, we deeply appreciate your support in recognising and encouraging cultural diversity, unity, and togetherness in our community.”
The night ended with smiles, applause, and dancing that carried on under the stars. From high-energy beats to shared laughter, Dandiya Night 2025 was a celebration of culture and community—a reminder that joy is brightest when shared.
