GOPIO Gold Coast has ushered in a new leadership team following its Annual General Meeting on 4 October 2025 at Tandoor and Curry Hut, Labrador. The meeting brought together members and supporters of the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin, marking the start of a fresh term focused on community connection and cultural pride.

The new Executive Committee for 2025–2027 will be led by President Manish Saini, with Dr Malabika Sarma Barman as Vice President and Pushpinder Oberoi as Second Vice President. Namita Bansal has been appointed Secretary, Kanwaljit Sethi as Joint Secretary, Rita Rao as Treasurer, and Jessy Kaurah as Joint Treasurer. The committee also includes Kapil (Sunny) Sachdeva as Cultural Coordinator, Simardeep Sethi as Youth Coordinator, and Seema Chauhan as Advisor.

The event reflected a sense of optimism and unity as members discussed future directions for GOPIO Gold Coast, including expanding youth engagement, enhancing cultural programming, and strengthening partnerships with local organisations across the region.

Secretary Namita Bansal congratulated the newly elected members and reaffirmed the group’s shared purpose. “We look forward to an inspiring and productive term ahead, strengthening our presence and making a meaningful impact in our community,” she said.

Founded to represent the interests of people of Indian origin worldwide, GOPIO Gold Coast continues to serve as a bridge between cultures, celebrating Indian heritage while supporting broader multicultural exchange. With a renewed sense of purpose, the 2025–2027 committee is preparing to build on the chapter’s strong foundation and deepen its contribution to the region’s vibrant community life.

The Indian Sun congratulates the newly elected GOPIO Gold Coast Executive Committee and wishes them every success in their new term.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.
