Recruitment has begun for hundreds of jobs at the new Adelaide Aquatic Centre, which is set to open this summer. Around 180 roles are being advertised as part of a wider campaign that will eventually see about 300 positions filled at the $135 million facility.

YMCA Aquatic & Events Services Limited, appointed to manage the centre, is seeking staff across a broad range of positions. These include learn to swim teachers, lifeguards, customer service officers, café staff and cooks, as well as health club and group fitness instructors. Former employees of the old Adelaide Aquatic Centre were given the first chance to register their interest in August, with their applications being reviewed before others.

Work on the new centre is progressing, with the concrete structures for the outdoor pools complete and indoor pool construction continuing. Testing is underway on the pools, while the main building is taking shape with façade works, cladding panels and structural steel all being installed. Once finished, the facility will include indoor and outdoor pools, water play areas, slides, a gym, spa, café and spaces designed for community use. The centre will also be powered entirely by renewable energy and will deliver an additional 1000 square metres of Park Lands.

Officials have described the project as an opportunity to not only provide modern aquatic and recreation services but also to create a safe and inclusive space for the community. State representatives have encouraged people with a passion for health, fitness and customer service to apply for roles and help shape the centre’s future.

The recruitment drive is expected to attract strong interest, given the scale of the project and the variety of positions on offer. With applications now open, the workforce will be built over the coming months, ready to support the launch of a major new community facility for Adelaide.
