Residents in Mandurah are being invited to take part in a new initiative designed to help culturally and linguistically diverse communities better understand the Australian legal system.

The program, called What’s the Law?, will run a free workshop at Mandurah Bowling Club on Thursday 25 September 2025 from 10am to 12pm. The session will cover finances, employment, and tenancy, providing practical information on where money can come from, rights of employers and employees, and the responsibilities of tenants.

Peel Community Legal Services is delivering the project in partnership with Peel Multicultural Association, with support from the Office of Multicultural Interests. A free morning tea will be provided as part of the event.

Organisers said the initiative was designed to connect the community with clear information about everyday legal issues. Topics include contracts, wages and superannuation for workers, as well as tenants’ rights and what to do when things go wrong with a lease.

Workshops are free of charge. The session is open to everyone and registrations can be made by scanning the QR code on the flyer or contacting Peel Community Legal Services on 9581 4511 or at hello@peelcls.com.au

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
