The Mackay Indian Association is preparing to host Garba Night 2025, bringing the community together for an evening of dance, colour and celebration. The event will take place on Saturday, 20 September, from 6:30 pm onwards at McDonald’s Mackay Multisports Stadium, 107 Juliet Street, Mackay.
Organisers say the night is set to be a vibrant Garba showcase of culture and inclusivity. “Our event seeks to overcome all barriers and create an atmosphere filled with love, respect, and shared joy,” the committee noted.
Attendees will be treated to traditional Garba music, with organisers emphasising that the evening will remain focused on cultural celebration. “The evening will feature only traditional Garba music and we hope to bring together people from all walks of life to celebrate harmony and joy. To keep the focus on our cultural celebration, please remember this is a meat-free and alcohol-free event,” they added.
Tickets are priced at $22 per adult and $18 per child, with free entry for children under six. The pricing structure has been kept affordable to encourage families to attend, with proceeds directed towards covering catering costs.
The event, supported by local businesses including Indian Aroma, Busy Bee Takeaway, Masala Indian Cuisine, The Village Café, and Pizza Hut South Mackay, has also received backing from community members such as Riddhika and Dr Hemang Mayatra, Vibha and Jeelan Dodiya, Nutan and Dr Nagesh Meharwade, and Kanchan and Jatin Singh.
With only days to go, the association is urging the community to secure their tickets early to be part of what promises to be an energetic and welcoming evening. As the organisers put it, “Let’s make this a night to remember, where Garba unites us as one lively community.”

Dear Reader,The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.
Thank you for your support.
Best wishes,
